Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Team

Organisation type: Local Authority

The Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEN&D) Team undertake the assessments for  Educational Health and Care Plans  (EHCP). This supports a child or young person with Special Educational Needs in their school or college, it also covers their health and social care needs. After the young person has been through the EHC assessment process we will decide whether you need a plan.  If a plan is agreed, we will monitor the child’s or young person’s progress, outcomes, and provision, and can support other services that the child or young person may need. The EHC plan will be reviewed every year at the school or college and the EHC will be amended accordingly.  An EHC will remain valid up until the young person is 25, as long as they are in education.
