National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA)

The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (Nacoa) is a charity that was founded to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcoholism or a similar addictive problem. This includes children of all ages, many of whose problems only become apparent in adulthood. 

Nacoa provide a helpline 0800 358 3456 and helpline email which offers information and advice for children of alcoholics and anyone concerned with their care and safety.

Nacoa's aims are to offer information, advice and support to children of alcohol dependent parents. 

To reach professionals working with them. 

To raise their profile in the public consciousness. 

To promote research into the problems they face and teh prevention of alcohol dependency developing in this vulnerable group. 

During these unprecedented times, as the corona virus spreads and our vital public services are forced to close, leaving families to fend for themselves, the Nacoa helpline will be open throughout the closure period:
