School - Independent - The playgroup is for children who are ready ro leave their parents for a little while, in a calm and peaceful environment. Care is taken to sensitively support the process of settling in and separations from parents, with awareness that the needs of each child and family will be different. In Playgroup, the children make progress in social development, beginning to enjoy playing with other children, working together and starting to develop an awareness and care for other people, as teachers model these behaviours for them. Activities are chosen to be age appropriate and meaningful to very young children. The range of activities offered promotes concentraition, perseverance, dexterity, strength, coordination and creativity as well as cognitive and language development. Children learn and develop skills by imatating the adults working alongside them. There are extensive daily oppertunities for free play and exploration indoors and outside in the garden. The regular rhythms and routines of the sessions allow children to feel safe and relaxed.
